Superfan
I’m bubbling with excitement about this musical. The soundtrack is bumping in my car. It’s cheering me up at work. It’s teaching me to say goodbye and reminding me to not give up my shot.
Companion to the Musical
The companion book was just something I couldn’t pass up. I listened to the soundtrack in tandem with reading.
It’s pretty. The pages and the printing are beautiful. It’s a book that makes other books proud to be books. I don't keep a lot of printed books, and this one
It’s well-written. The essays take you through the creation of the musical. They’re real. They have real stories, and attached me even more firmly to the show.
The songs are all printed out with commentary from Lin Manuel Miranda. They add depth and humor to the songs.
Write Like You're Running Out of Time
Alexander Hamilton achieved a lifetime of success even before he turned 30. Lin-Manuel Miranda is 36, and he has achieved so much through his talent. The Act I finale "Nonstop" asks Hamilton "How do you write like you're running out of time?". My takeaway from this play is "Why don't I write like I'm running out of time?"
