When Life Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going
At least, that's what Paul Kalanithi did when he found out he had fatal cancer. Thoughout treatments and setbacks, he continued to perform life-saving surgeries and insisted on living his life. He left behind a young wife, a baby daughter, and this beautifully written memoir about his last years on Earth.
This Doc Can Write!
Kalanthi writes...like a writer! The book was always poetic in its descriptions and vingettes. Just like the life of the author, the book feels cut short. I could have read more and more.
Sad and Inspiring
No spoilers here. The end of the story is known from the beginning. Yes, it's a sad story, but it definitely got me off by butt about my life and make the most of it. Kalanithi's work was not in vain. His surgeries saved, prolonged and improved lives. His book might just do the same.
Audiobook
I enjoyed the narrator. Too bad it couldn't have been the author. Paul wife chimes in at the end of the book, and I really liked that.
