If "The Bachelor" and "The Hunger Games" had a baby, "The Selection" would be it. Being in "The Selection" brings benefits both social and financial, but America has heart. Is winning Maxon worth the loss of a past love?

Who cares if it fits the mold? I loved it!
I loved America. She's bold and refuses to be anything but herself or stay quiet when something needs to be said. She's also a caring friend and sympathetic candidate for princess. She knows her worth.
I loved the setting. In fact, I watched "The Bachelor" while listening to this book. It's totally superficial, but there's a reason the 'The Bachelor/Bachelorette" is in it's 21st season.
America is A Name
The one thing that confused me while listening to this book was when people spoke directly to the main character, America Singer. It sounds like the next big reality performance competition. So when the prince says things like, "I want to see you tonight, America", I had to process that not as him talking to a country, but to a person.
Audiobook
Narrator Amy Rubinate is the perfect voice for America and the novel.
