If the title sounds like a romantic comedy to you, you're totally and completely correct.
Dimple is surprised when her traditional Indian parent allow her to attend Insomnia Con, a coding conference in San Francisco during the summer before college. Little does she know, they have arranged with their good friends for their very eligible and tradition-loving son Rishi to be there also. Will Dimple and Rishi live out the obvious desires of their parents? Most likely, but the ride is pretty fun.
The best part: When Dimple meets Rishi. Meet cute. For real.
The worst part of this book: The awkward dinner with the "Aberzombies". This book takes place in ultra-accepting San Francisco. Having grown up in the Bay Area, I was surrounded by different cultures and traditions and people and world views. When the Aberzombies say that Dimple and Rishi have weird names, it just doesn't fit. I would never say someones name is weird, because it's just not, to me.
However, I'm not Indian, and so I really don't know. It makes me sick to think that someone in San Francisco would feel mistreated because of their race. Perhaps that's still the case. I'm going to continue trying to make up for the lack of love and acceptance and appreciation in this world.
