Trygg the Dinosaur by Paula Louise Salvador

I don't often read children's books, but when I do I've won them from Goodreads Giveaways.

Trygg the Dinosaur is the prehistoric story of two unlikely friends who bridge the gap between predator and prey. In "Land Before Time" terms, Trygg is a sharp tooth and Alta is a leaf eater. Both orphaned as hatchlings, Trygg and Alta have trouble finding their places in the harsh paleolithic world. Only together will they survive.

This was a cute story with very real life-or-death situations. I felt concerned for the juvenile dinosaurs. I did feel like they had an awareness of their world too quickly upon hatching, and that the dinosaur species names were difficult to read and also to say. Even now, my adult mind can't remember them...

The book does have a few illustrations that helped me understand the ugliness of the dinosaurs.

I think this book would be good for kids who like dinosaurs. If I had kids, I would probably read it to them. The chapters are very short and digestible.

Song: The Land Before Time soundtrack. Because this was the only thing I knew about dinosaurs before I read this book.
